Shoe Care & Break-In | Built to Last

At Zuno, we believe great shoes are made to be worn - but worn with intention. Proper care and a gradual break-in are what transform a new pair from stiff out of the box to a trusted favourite that only gets better with time.

Leather rewards patience. Rush it, and you fight the shoe. Take your time, and it adapts to you.

Start Right - Fit & First Wear

Every foot is different - even the two you’re standing on. Try your shoes on when your feet are relaxed, not swollen from a long day on the pavement. At Zuno, we always recommend easing into a new pair. Leather needs time to learn your stride, just like you need time to learn the shoe.

Start by wearing them indoors for a couple of hours at a time. Thicker socks can help encourage a gentle stretch while keeping things comfortable. Gradually increase wear until they feel natural - like second skin.

Daily Habits - The Foundation of Longevity

Use a shoehorn every time. It prevents damage to the heel counter and preserves the shoe’s shape.

When not in use, always store your shoes with proper cedar shoe trees. This is a core part of how we care for our own shoes at Zuno. Shoe trees help maintain structure, absorb moisture, and reduce creasing. For travel or longer storage, keep shoes in a breathable cloth bag - ideally with shoe trees inserted - to protect against dust and pressure.

Wear Them Well

Scuffs, creases, and marks are part of the story - that’s character. But consistent care keeps things sharp. At Zuno, we see shoe care as part of the wear itself.

Wear, brush, condition, polish. Repeat.

Take care of your shoes, and they’ll return the favour - for years.
